Update: Philadelphia School District to Hire Eleven Ombuds

To reduce the bureaucratic maze facing parents, the Philadelphia School District is adding an Ombuds to each of the district's regional offices. The Ombuds, promised by Superintendent Arlene Ackerman in April, will "address the needs of parents as they arrive" at a regional office to ensure that the district and the parent can work together to meet the child's needs. Although the the Ombuds are part of a larger reorganization plan to be implemented before school starts in the fall, details of a search have not been released.
