Searchable Mediator Ethics Opinions Now Online

The American Bar Association has created an online database of opinions on mediator ethics. The opinions are categorized by by the nine standards in the Model Standard of Conduct for Mediators, many of which are relevant to Ombuds practice:
  • Self-Determination
  • Impartiality
  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Competence
  • Confidentiality
  • Quality of the Process
  • Advertising and Solicitation
  • Fees and Other Charges
  • Advancement of Mediation Practice
In addition, the opinions can be searched by keyword. (National Clearinghouse for Mediator Ethics Opinions.)

I hope that, someday, there will be a similar collection of opinions defining the practices of the Ombuds profession too.
