Job Posting: University of Connecticut

The leading public university in New England has reopened the search for its first Ombuds Officer for faculty and staff.  "Under administrative review and reporting to the University President, this position is responsible for designing, implementing and coordinating all aspects of a university Ombuds Office and its operation." Eventually, the program is expected to expand to serve other constituencies. The full-time position will practice to IOA standards.


The revised posting indicates that applicants should have a master's degree or JD and at least five years Ombuds or related experience.  (The initial posting sought a terminal degree in a relevant field and at least three years experience.)  In addition, preferred qualifications include working knowledge of applicable laws governing confidentiality and the protection of information, membership in IOA, and experience working in a unionized environment.
