George Mason University Appoints Ombuds

GMU has hired Fernando Caetano to serve as its next Ombudsman.  In this full-time postion, he works with about 37,000 faculty, staff, and student.  He started this week.

From 2004 to 2013, Fernando was a full-time Mediator for faculty and staff at the University of Michigan Health System, and part-time Lecturer in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution at Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning (2006-2012), also at the University of Michigan. He earned his Law Degree from Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Campinas, in Brazil, and practiced law in Brazil before he moved to the United States, where he received an LLM from Wayne State University Law School. He worked at the Office of the Director of Intramural Research at NIH from 2013 until he accepted the position at George Mason.  (GMU Ombuds; Taubman Faculty Bio.)
