2015 ACR Conference Expands Ombuds Offerings

The initial agenda for the Association for Conflict Resolution's Annual Conference included several current and former Ombuds.  The final program, set for October 7-10, 2015 in Reno, Nevada, includes several additional programs for and about Ombuds.  These now include:

  • Problem Solving for One: Conflict Coaching and ADR Innovations by Daniel Rainey, Chief of Staff, National Mediation Road and Co-Chair of the Ombuds Committee of the ABA Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice

  • Expanding Your Practitioner Toolbox: An introduction to the evidence-based “Thinking for a Change” group program by Angela Dash, Ombuds at Northeast Ohio Medical University
  • Disability Ignorance and the Unaware Mediator: Understanding Your Legal Obligations to People with Disabilities by Karey R. Barnes,  Director of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Services (Student Ombuds), South Texas College

The 2015 ACR conference will also feature a session on Saturday, October 10, entitled "Cross-Fertilization - Organizational Ombuds and Other Conflict Management Practitioners - Expanding Your Toolboxes." This session is offered as a result of a collaboration between IOA and the ACR Workplace Section. The presenters include: Barbara Beatty, Rita Callahan, and Mauricio (Reese) Ramos, president of IOA.
