Job Posting: Executive Office for Immigration Review

The U.S. Department of Justice office that oversees immigration courts is hiring its first Ombudsperson. As Program Manager, the position will head the Office of the Ombudsperson/Dispute Resolution within the EOIR Office of the Director. 

Based in Falls, Church, VA, the EOIR Ombuds will work with almost 3,000 staff members in 29 states and territories. Some travel (up to 15%) is expected. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be able to obtain a security clearance. The GS-14/15 position pays $128,082-$160,300. The application period opens October 5 and closes October 26, 2016.     1. I don't see that detail listed in the job posting. It appears to require several things:
      • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National
      • You must complete a background investigation, credit check, and drug test.
      • Selective Service Registration is required, as applicable.
      • Moving and Relocation Expenses are not authorized.
      • Probationary period may apply
      • Financial Disclosure is required
      ...but not current federal employment. Where did you find that information?

    2. Hello Tom,

      It says "Status Candidates (Merit Promotion and VEOA Eligibles)" under the "Who May Apply" section. In federal service, Status candidates refer to those individuals who are current or former federal civilian employees who hold or held non-temporary appointments.
