Job Posting: Clemson University

The public university in South Carolina has opened a search for its next Ombuds for Staff. (Tom Ward has held the position since July 2006.) The Clemson Staff Ombuds serves about 4,000 employees and collaborates with the University Ombudsman for Faculty and Students, R. Gordon Halfacre and the Ombudsman Assistant, Glenda L. Dickson. It is a full-time position.

Applicants must have bachelor's degree and experience in mediation, as an Organizational Ombuds or closely related dispute resolution professional; and at least five years in supervisory or leadership roles in a complex organization comprised of broad and diverse constituent groups. Preferred qualifications include: an advanced degree; Mediation experience; Strong theoretical and working knowledge of the dynamics and practice of conflict resolution; Administrative experience in public higher education; Working knowledge of the IOA Professional Standards of Practice; and Ombuds certification or the ability to become certified.
