House Bill Would Make EEOICPA Ombuds More Classical
Northern New Mexico's congressman, Tom Udall, has introduced a bill to change the jurisdiction of the Ombudsman for the Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act. The EEOICPA ombuds office was originally created as a 3-year project to provide confidential and independent advice to sick atomic workers and the Department of Energy. In addition to extending the term of the office and number workers covered, Rep. Udall's bill would allow the office to become an advocate for claimants and suggest changes to Congress.
