Shelley Lancaster has been the ombuds for McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, since establishing the office in 1998. Carolyn Brendon joined the McMaster ombuds office in 2003. Their work as dispute resolution experts is the subject of an article in the university's newspaper. Both Lancaster and Brendon agree that in some ways inquiries from professors and administrators are the most heartening because they demonstrate a commitment on the part of the University to ensure fair treatment for all its members.
