UM will conduct an internal search to appoint a new, half-time Faculty Ombuds. The position, which was established in 1990, is appointed by the President following a search conducted by a Committee jointly appointed by the President and the University Senate. The candidate must be a tenured faculty member but may be recently retired. Lee E. Preston, PhD, an emeritus professor in the UM School of Business, has served as faculty Ombuds since 2004.
