"The Texas OAG is hiring its first Employee Ombudsman." Actually the Texas OAG has had an employee ombudsman at least since the early 1990's.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to hear that since the job description says: "Work involves planning, developing, and implementing the OAG’s Ombudsman Program." Can you give any more details about the existing internal OAG Ombuds?
DeleteGood morning. Actually, I have filled this position for the past 15 years and am retiring at the end of March. The agency has had an Ombudsman in some form for many years before I was hired. This position will report directly to the First Assistant Attorney General and Chief of Staff and be an informal resource for all employees (attorneys, non-attorneys, managers, non-managers) to resolve employment concerns. I was a member of the IOA for years and while the agency is not able strictly follow a few of the IOA standards, it does a great job of working as closely as possible to the standards - and practices in the spirit of what IOA stands for - it's a great and challenging job.
