The Board of Cooperative Educational Services for Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus, a public school district in western New York, is seeking its first Ombuds Officer. The full-time position will serve employees, students, and others in the school community in three counties (Chautauqua County, southern Erie County, and part of Cattaraugus County, a geographical area of 1,791 square miles) and 27 component school districts. Significant travel is required. "This position will serve as a designated neutral or impartial dispute resolution practitioner whose major function is to provide confidential and informal assistance as a means of protecting against abuse, bias and other unethical or improper treatment or unfairness."
Applicants "should have knowledge and experience in mediation and alternative dispute resolution, willing to obtain relevant education in pursuit of Ombuds' certification and qualifications." In addition, New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or New York
State School District Leader (SDL) certifications or minimal civil service criteria are required. The position offers a "starting salary no less than $100,000." Application review will begin May 9, 2022. (E2CCB posting.)
