Southern Illinois University Restores Ombuds Program for Employees
SIU Carbondale has appointed Michelle Kibby and Lori Foster as the first Ombuds for faculty and staff since the positions were eliminated over decade ago. (Renada Greer has been the Ombuds for students since 2017.) The Faculty and Staff Ombuds were re-established by SIU's Chancellor Austin A. Lane, after an extensive Listening and Learning Tour following his appointment in 2020.
Kibby, the Faculty Ombuds, is a Professor of Clinical Psychology. She is a Fellow of the National Academy of Neuropsychology and is the director of the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Foster, the Staff Ombuds, has worked at SIU since 2011 and currently works in the Office of Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance. Her collateral responsibilities include responding to contacts from the campus community, unions and outside individuals regarding labor and employee-related issues. (SIU News.)
