The private Lutheran college in South Carolina has appointed Timothy Elston as its first Ombudsman. In this new role, Elston will serve faculty, staff, and about 1,250 students and their parents. He takes on the Ombuds position in addition to his duties as Associate Vice President for Academic Administration.
Elson has spent his entire career at Newberry. He joined the faculty as Assistant Professor of History in 2004. He reached the rank of Associate Professor and also served four years as Chari of History and Social Sciences. He earned Bachelor's degrees from Abilene Christian University and Western Oregon University, and an MA and PhD at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. (Newberry Observer; LinkedIn.)
