The University of California's law school in San Francisco (to be renamed University of California College of the Law, San Francisco in 2023) is hiring its first Ombudsperson. The new, quarter-time position will serve all campus constituents and practice to IOA standards.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree and at least three years of experience as an Organizational Ombuds or other similar role. The job will pay $20,000 - 25,000 plus benefits. No application deadline indicated. (UC Hasting Posting.)
Hot take: This is an embarrassing salary. Hastings wants to pay the annual equivalent of $80-100k for an Ombuds with a couple years of experience. Novice Ombuds should be forewarned: the Hastings Ombuds better have significant skills to set up an office and manage the complex issues coming out of a prestigious law school. Moreover, the Bay Area is one of the most expensive areas in the country (just behind Manhattan and Honolulu).
