Steven Goodstein has been selected as the first Ombuds for Providence Swedish, the large health system serving greater Puget Sound and Western Washington state. In this new role, Goodstein will serve as a designated neutral conflict resolution professional providing informal assistance to patients on a variety of issues and concerns while following IOA standards. It promises to be a big job: last year Providence Swedish counted 1.2 million unique patients.
Goodstein brings years of professional experience to the role. Since 2018, he served as an Ombuds for an ambulatory surgery center in Long Island, NY. He has also worked as a mediator in community and small claims court, and as an arbitrator for the New York Court System's Office of ADR Programs. He has also been a member of the IOA Membership Committee. Goodstein earned his RN from Kingsborough Community College, BS from St. John's University New York, and MS in Negotiation & Conflict Resolution at Columbia University. (LinkedIn.)
