Northern Arizona University Announces New Ombuds

Laura Umphrey has been selected as the new Director of the Office of the University Ombuds at NAU. The position is now full time. She follows Monica Brown who served as part-time Faculty Ombuds since 2020. Umphrey moved into the position after serving as Associate Dean for the public university in Flagstaff for the past year.

Umphrey has worked at NAU since 2002. For 18 years, she was a faculty member in the School of Communication before transitioning to administrative leadership. She earned a Bachelor's and Masters at the University of Maine and a PhD at the University of Arizona. (NAU Faculty Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
