Emily de Schweinitz Taylor has been hired as UVU's new Assistant Director - Conflict Resolution/Ombudsman. She follows Talatou Abdoulaye, who held the position for the past five years, and will serve a student population of about 37,000. (An earlier version of this post incorrectly stated that Shawn Nielsen had been appointed to the position. He is the Administrative Support person for the office.)
Taylor comes to the Ombuds position after seven years as a mediator, coach, and consultant in Provo, Utah. Her 25-year career includes management work in the private sector and administrative positions at nonprofits and Bingham Young University. She graduated from Brigham Young University, earned Master's degrees at the University of Chicago and University of Denver, and a PhD from BYU. (UVU Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
Updated 7/11/24: Based on an updated website, the post was revised to reflect the appointment of Emily Taylor.
This is actually incorrect. Shawn Nielsen supports Emily Taylor in her role as the new UVU ombuds and assistant director of conflict resolution. https://www.linkedin.com/in/emilydestaylor/
