Canadian Military Names Interim Ombuds

Robyn Hynes has been appointed the Interim Ombuds for the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces. She follows Gregory Lick, who served in the positon since November 2018. Hynes will serve a one-year term through June 2025. Hynes has worked for the government for over 16 years in a variety of roles related to national defense. 

Most recently, she has served for a decade as the Director General of Operations at the DND/CAF Ombudsman’s office where she was responsible for the delivery of the office’s mandate—individual and systemic investigations, education, outreach and engagement. Before joining the public service, Robyn was a consultant in Nova Scotia, where she specialized in working with small and medium-sized businesses and Indigenous communities. Hynes graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland and earned an MBA from Saint Mary’s University. (DND/CAF Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
