The public research university in Tallahassee has opened a search for its a University Student Ombuds. The position will serve all enrolled students, a population of over 32,000. Currently, students are served by two collateral-duty Ombuds: Undergraduates by Jill Flees (Director for the Graduation Planning & Strategies Office); and Graduate students by James Beck (Senior Graduate Policy Program Coordinator). There is a separate Ombuds program for faculty and staff. The full-time position is located within the FSU Office of Compliance & Ethics.
Applicants must have a Master's degree and four years experience related to the position or a Bachelor's degree and six years experience in the same (higher education may substitute for experience at a comparable rate). Preferred qualifications include a terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or JD) and four years of prior experience working directly with students in a college or university setting.
