Last year, the Seventh-day Adventist boarding high school in Auburn, Washington, appointed Columbus Candies, Jr., as its first Ombuds. In the new role, he will provide Organizational Ombuds services to about 240 students and their families, and other members of the school community. The Ombuds program was created along with a range of reforms recommended by AAA's Focus Group on Racial Equity.
Candies owns and manages physical therapy clinics in Washington, Texas, and California. In addition to being a leader in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, he also sits on the Board of Trustees of Walla Walla University. He graduated from Loma Linda University, and earned a MPA/HA from Portland State University and PhD from the University of Idaho. (Auburn Focus Group Updates; Walla Walla Trustees.)
