Leiden University Medical Center Appoints First Ombuds

In January 2024, Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum, the teaching hospital affiliated with Leiden University in the Netherlands, named Margot Snelders-Pouw as its first Ombudsfunctionaris. As the LUMC Ombuds, she serves as a confidential, independent, and neutral resource for employees, including PhD students. 

Snelders brings 13 years of mediation and mediation training experience to the position. She has been a confidential advisor with Xtra Welzijn, a welfare organization in The Hague, and a mediator/trainer/coach with Care2Support, a consulting company based in England. In addition to her new Ombuds role, Snelders continues as a mediator for family matters before the court and Legal Aid Board in The Hague. Her prior career was as a critical care nurse and pharmaceutical manager and sales. (LinkedIn.)
