US News & World Report: "What Students Should Know About College Ombuds"
The media company known for its influential ranking of colleges and graduate schools, has published an article explaining the role of campus Ombuds. The piece includes sections on: History of Ombuds Offices; What an Ombuds Does; How an Ombuds Helps; When To Use Ombuds; When Not to Use Ombuds; Issues Brought to Ombuds; and Resolution That Can Be Expected. Ombuds quoted in the article include: Hector Escalante Meza (University of California, Merced); Tom Kosakowski (University of Southern California); Sarah Klaper (Northwestern University and IOA President); and Lisa Yamagata-Lynch (University of Tennessee—Knoxville). (USNews.)
It is wonderful to see US News & World Report help students understand the role of the Ombuds, and, how we can help them navigate and manage challenges better. Kudos to Tom, Sarah, Lisa and Hector (and IOA staff) that help spread the good word about Ombuds.
Hopefully, parents are sending this article to their students at college.
