This year, the Office of the University Ombudsman at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) marks its 40th year, while the Red de Organismos Defensores de los Derechos Universitarios (REDDU), the network of Mexican university Ombuds offices, marks 20 years. Both REDDU and UNAM are active, international partner organizations of ENOHE, the European Network of Ombuds in Higher Education.
In May, a three-day conference in Mexico City brought together Ombuds and higher education professionals from across the country. Diego García Ricci, the new president of REDDU, and Guadalupe Barrena Nájera, UNAM’s Ombudsperson and a member of ENOHE’s Board, led the event. ENOHE President Jean Grier delivered an online keynote, “40 Years of the Ombudsman in Universities.” (YouTube.)
