BSU, the largest of nine state universities in Massachusetts, is hiring its first permanent University Ombuds. The search will fill a role held on an initial and interim basis by Pam Russell since May 2024. The new Ombuds will report to the University’s president and practice to IOA standards, providing confidential, impartial, and informal services to faculty and staff.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant experience. Preferred qualifications include mediation or conflict resolution training, workshop facilitation experience, higher education experience, IOA Foundations training, and CO-OP certification or eligibility. The hourly range for this nonexempt position is $55–$65. No closing date indicated. (BSU Posting.)
Reporting to a chief institutional officer and $125,000/year to start; this actually sounds like an institution that understands the role.
