Job Posting: University of Colorado Boulder

Colorado's flagship public university is seeking an Associate Ombuds to join its Ombuds Office. The search will fill the position held by Jason Q. Sinocruz for the past year. The office is led by Director Kirsi Aulin and includes Associate Ombuds Detric Robinson, and two Faculty Ombuds, Keith Maskus and JoAnn Silverstein. The full-time position is based in Boulder and offers a hybrid work arrangement.

The qualifications have changed significantly from the university's 2025 search. The previous posting required five years of full-time Ombuds experience; the new posting requires three years of full-time Ombuds experience or demonstrably equivalent experience in areas including law, conflict management, negotiation and dispute resolution, mediation, or labor relations. The position continues to require a JD from an accredited law school. Applicants must also be willing to become an OCP (formerly CO-OP) as soon as eligible. Higher education experience and mediation or ADR training are preferred. The position pays $108,000 to $129,200, and applications are due October 19, 2026. (CU Boulder Posting.)

  1. Thank you for sharing this opportunity, Tom. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the University of Colorado Boulder Ombuds Office and had the privilege of working with an exceptional team under Kirsi Aulin's thoughtful and supportive leadership.

I recently departed to pursue an exciting leadership opportunity in civil rights and transit equity as the Manager of Transit Equity at Denver's Regional Transportation District (RTD), and I remain deeply appreciative of my experience at CU Boulder.

The Associate Ombuds position is a wonderful opportunity for someone passionate about conflict resolution and supporting the university community. The office has a terrific team, strong leadership, and a genuine commitment to the important work of organizational ombuds.

I enthusiastically encourage qualified candidates to apply. If anyone is interested in learning more about the position, the office, or my experience there, please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn. I'd be happy to share my perspective and answer questions.
