The public research university in Albuquerque is hiring an Associate Ombuds. The position will join an office that provides services to UNM staff, faculty supervising staff and their co-workers, and graduate students. The office is currently includes Staff Ombuds, JoEllen Ransom, CO-OP; Associate Ombuds, Anne Lightsey, CO-OP; and Ombuds for Graduate Students, Aasma Batool.
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree, five years of experience, mediation training, and 100 hours of mediation experience. An advanced degree and CO-OP eligibility are preferred. The position pays $55,000 to $68,000 per year. The priority application deadline is September 1, 2023. (UNM Posting.)
Yikes at that salary. Higher ed as a whole needs to do better.

ReplyDeleteGreat offices, doing great work, with great colleagues but at abysmal salaries is nothing to champion.
ReplyDeleteThose are academic advisor level salaries--not skilled mediator/ombuds salaries.
ReplyDeleteHigher ed should do better and this office should be championed. Mine was a separate comment, one doesn't justify the other.
