COFO 2025 Annual Conference: Call for Presentations

The Coalition of Federal Ombuds is now accepting proposals for its 2025 Annual Conference on September 12, 2025. The conference will be an all-day hybrid event, with an in-person conference in Alexandria, VA, and a virtual option. Organizers seek proposals for both virtual and in-person presentations.

COFO is open to proposals of all lengths on substantive topics. Anything from 15-minute micro-learning sessions up to 90-minute presentations will be considered, though 60 minutes is historically the most common session proposal. Additionally, “blips” – short creative or artistic presentations or activities no longer than 5 minutes – are also being accepted.

COFO’s membership is diverse in its practice, so substantive topics of interest to both internally- and externally-facing Ombuds are most likely to be selected. Topics specific to one model will only be considered if content is available to support concurrent sessions of interest to other models. COFO has no budget and is unfortunately unable to pay a presenter fee or travel costs.

Registration for the COFO Annual Conference is free and typically draws over 200 attendees from across the Ombuds profession and broader ADR community. And while it is first and foremost a day focused on the needs of Ombuds practitioners serving in the federal government, it is also an Ombuds-wide family affair. COFO welcomed anyone either practicing as an Ombuds or interested in Ombuds to join as an attendee or presenter, and they believe the conference is an outstanding development opportunity for anyone in the field.

Proposals may be submitted by email, with the title and a short description of the proposed presentation or blip, as well as the names, titles, affiliations, and bios of all presenters and whether the presentation is in person or virtually, by Monday, August 4, 2025 to Paul.Sotoudeh@uspto.gov.
