Then Department of Defense agency that provides external intelligence services has established its first Organizational Ombudsman Office. Eddie McCormack was selected to serve as the new Ombudsman and Dale Vergott will serve as the Deputy Ombudsman. Together, they will both serve an organization of over 15,000 employees worldwide from DIA hedquarters in Washington, DC. The new office reports to the DIA Chief of Staff and will operate according to International Ombudsman Association and Standards of Practice.
McCormack is recently retired from the Air Force
and has over thirty years experience in working with employment-related personnel matters, in both
the military and government sectors. He has extensive background and experience serving in the
Inspector General’s Office, Equal Employment Opportunity Office and Drug & Alcohol support services
that enabled him to understand and help others resolve complex organizational issues brought to his
attention before they rise to more formal channels. McCormack completed IOA training in 2015.
Vergott completed more than two decades of military service before he became an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist with the U.S. Army Reserve Command in 2003. In 2005, he moved to a similar position with the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency. Then in 2008, he accepted a new position with the Defense Intelligence Agency as an EO Complaints and
Adjudication Program Manager and soon became the agency's ADR Program Manager. The program's success in mediating and
resolving complaints led to the eventual expansion and creation of the Office of the Ombudsman for DIA on May 1, 2015.
Vergott completed IOA training in 2009 and became a certified practitioner in 2015.
