University of California Santa Barbara Adds an Associate Ombuds

UCSB's Office of the Ombuds has hired Don Lubach as an Associate Ombuds, starting September 1, 2019. This is a new position that expands the size of the office. Previously, Lubach was the university’s Associate Dean of Students and Director of First-Year and Graduate Student Initiatives. He helped redevelop the Graduate Student Resource Center, taught graduate students, and helped establish a social justice and public policy program in Mexico.


Lubach has worked at UCSB for two decades, in a wide range of jobs including as a campus tour guide, editorial writer, plate washer, and career counselor. "He has also been an an instructor for Santa Barbara City College's Adult Education. He earned his PhD from the Gevirtz Graduate School of Education with a concentration in Higher Education Administration and Organizational Dynamics. He has also has completed IOA's Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice Course.  (LinkedIn.)
