Michael Steinberg has recently been appointed as Associate Ombuds at the University of California- Santa Barbara. For the past 17 months, he was the Associate Ombuds at Columbia University. UCSB is still looking to hire its Assistant Ombuds/Office Manager.
Before becoming an Ombuds, Steinberg was the Advanced Case Coordinator at the Harvard Mediation Program at Harvard Law School from 2007-2011, where he mediated a wide variety of cases, including complex business, family, and housing disputes. He graduated from Connecticut College and earned a JD from Northeastern University School of Law. He fills the position formerly held by Caroline Adams, now the Director and Campus Ombuds at UCSB's Office of the Ombuds.
