Requires a “current NC business license”???
ReplyDeleteJust one of several head scratching details.
DeleteMinimum requirement: NC business license???? Out of curiosity, I’ve inquired for more information.
ReplyDeleteA quick perusal of NC statutes indicates there is no such license. There are professional licenses and some counties and cities have registration requirements.
ReplyDeleteRight, and still it’s in the position description…..
DeleteA business wishing to do business in North Carolina can file for articles of incorporation for $125, then a $200 annual fee. An individual could create an LLC but if you’re so proprietorship, it really doesn’t matter one way or the other. I’ve seen some businesses require you to have professional liability insurance, which wasn’t mentioned. All in all seems like an unusual requirement. And there’s an additional question about whether one needs to be registered with the state at the time of the application or if a person can register with NC after they’re selected.
ReplyDeleteYes, inquiring minds. No response thus far…..
DeleteNot to mention, foreign corporations (those from another state, as opposed to an alien corporation from outside the US) may legally do business in North Carolina.
DeleteUPDATE: I received a short response from Davidson College HR today to my request for clarification and more information: "You need to be licensed to work and provide services in the state of North Carolina."
ReplyDeleteAlso received a response that it can be established after being selected
