Proposal to Revise IOA Membership Categories Loses
In response to concerns over IOA membership categories, the board held a special meeting on November 27, 2006 to consider changing the by-laws. Despite seeming widespread interest in the issue, less than 25% of the members exercised their vote. The proposal thus failed to reach a quorom and the membership categories will not change. This would seem to be the most disappointing outcome of a critical issue.
The failure to reach quorum does not automatically mean the membership categories will remain unchanged. The by-laws proposal will be revisited at the Annual Membership meeting during the IOA conference next April in St. Louis, MO.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the clarification, Jan. I hope the membership is motivated to resolve this issue soon.
ReplyDeleteI submitted my proxy via fax, but I found the method of submitting proxy unweildy, which may have kept some members from voting. Is there not some method for members to log in to the IOA website and submit the proxy online?
