UC Berkeley is hiring an Assistant Ombudsperson for matters involving students and post-docs. The half-time position serves as the first point of contact for callers/visitors to the Student Ombuds Office, ascertains the nature of requests and inquiries and, in consultation with the Ombuds as required, determines appropriate course of action including possible referral to other Campus resources.
Applicants should have a basic/intermediate understanding of conflict resolution and mediation techniques and principles; working knowledge of the role of the Ombuds Office and Ombuds Office professionals; working knowledge of the University of California, its resources, infrastructure, policies, and procedures applicable to all students, and policies and procedures applicable to post-doctoral appointees.
