Job Posting: Department of the Interior

The Department of the Interior's Office of Collaborative Action and Dispute Resolution is hiring an Ombudsman to be based in Washington, DC. The position "serves as a mediator, facilitator, coach and organizational ombuds for DOI Bureaus and Offices and reports to the Director of CADR for broad policy direction."

Some travel (up to five nights a month) is required. The GS-12 position pays $62,101-80,731 and applications are due by Tuesday, December 27, 2016. (USA Jobs: All U.S. Citizens, Status Candidates.)

A bit of a correction:

There are three jobs DOI is posting. Two are what I sent you last night. They are GS-13/14. Those are ombuds positions. The one that you have on the site is a GS-12/13/14 (could be any of those levels, and is not an ombuds position.

Organizational Ombuds

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals. The term "Ombuds" is shorthand for "Ombudsman," "Ombudsperson" and "Ombuds Officer," which also are used widely.
