The University of California Santa Barbara is hiring an Associate Ombuds. The position provides impartial, informal, independent and confidential conflict resolution services to all campus stakeholders. In consultation with the Campus Ombuds, Kirsi Aulin, the Associate Ombuds handles cases with little or no campus precedent, including bullying, sexual harassment, and discrimination.

This is an 80 - 100% position with full benefits. Salary not indicated, but "is competitive and commensurate with experience." Deadline for priority consideration apply by December 12, 2012, thereafter open until filled. (UCSB Jobs.)

Organizational Ombuds serve as a confidential, independent, neutral and informal dispute resolution resource for a specific entity. They are accessible to a defined population and can advocate for fairness. These unique characteristics distinguish Organizational Ombuds from Classical Ombuds, mediators, arbitrators, and other alternative dispute resolution professionals.
