The Congressional effort to create an Ombuds office for Freedom of Information Act disputes is back on track under the new Obama administration. The most significant setback came when when the Bush administration removed the new Office of Government Information Services to the Justice Department. Now, the job is back at National Archives and Records Administration as Congress intended and applications are being accepted. In addition to a comprehensive knowledge of relevant law and regulations, administrative experience and political skills, applicants must able to “establish a mediation program to resolve disputes between persons making FOIA requests and administrative agencies.” The job is located in College Park, MD, and pays $117,787 to 162,900 per annum. The application deadline is Friday, February 27, 2009.
