I respectfully disagree that the changes are inconsequential Tom,
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the eight years of Ombuds experience working in an academic environment is now preferred rather than required. This broadens the pool of potential applicants from a very small (perhaps null) set of seasoned academic ombuds willing to take a 40% position to essentially anyone with a bachelors degree who can demonstrate expertise in conflict resolution. Also while the job remains 40% time, the job description does express openness to expanding the role to 100% time with sufficient demonstrated need.
While it may still not be attractive enough to entice seasoned academic ombuds currently in full-time positions, it does expand the applicant pool dramatically.
Good points, Andrew. Thank you for the clarification.
DeleteThe UCOP posting also added that the population to be served is about 1,500, which was half of the estimate I included in my first posting.
Thank you for posting this clarification!
