Meet Southern Oregon University's New Ombuds

Dominick Robertson has been named the new Faculty Ombuds for the public, liberal arts university in Ashland. He takes over the position from Lynn Kirms, who established the program in 2016. Robertson will serve nearly 1,000 academic staff, practicing to IOA standards. Robertson has been member of the Psychology Department faculty since 2009.  

Robertson's career began in the tech industry, where he worked for two decades as a software engineer, manager, and executive. He then became a Licensed Professional Counselor, and worked as a counselor for several years, before moving to academia. In addition to teaching at SOU, Robertson has also coordinated the school's Clinical Mental Health Counseling Masters program. He earned his MS at Southern Oregon and a PhD from Oregon State University. (SOU Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
