University of Tennessee Announces Next Ombuds

UT Knoxville has appointed Lisa Yamagata-Lynch to serve as its next Campus Ombudsperson beginning May 1, 2019. “I am honored and excited to serve as ombudsperson for the UT community. It is fortunate for me to be transitioning from one role at UT that I love and go into another, because I already know how fulfilling it can be to be a part of our community,” said Yamagata-Lynch. She takes over for Elaine Wynn, who retired December 2018, and Bill Nugent, who has been managing the office on an interim basis.

Yamagata-Lynch is associate head of the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. She is also a professor and director of graduate studies. She will remain a tenured professor but will not continue serving in her other roles. She graduated from the University of the Sacred Heart in Tokyo and earned her MS and PhD from Indiana University. (UTK News.)

  1. Ten years as an interim ombuds. That's quite a stretch!

    1. Sorry. I corrected the typo. Bill Nugent was appointed the first Faculty Ombudsperson in 2010. He's been the Interim Campus Ombudsperson since just December 2018.
