Job Posting: Department of the Interior

The Department of the Interior's Office of Collaborative Action and Dispute Resolution (CADR) is hiring an Organizational Ombudsman for a full-time, two-year appointment. Based in Arlington, Virginia, the position "works with other CADR staff to support the full range of conflict management and dispute resolution services and to identify opportunities and strategies to expand access to ombudsman services and improve the design and/or operation of the Department’s integrated conflict management system and further CADR’s mission."

Some travel is required, but (according to the posting) "will not be paid." The position is GS-13 or GS-14 and the pay ranges from is $99,172 to $152,352 per year. ("First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.")   1. The wording of the job post is a little confusing, but I think it's saying that any relocation travel expenses are not reimbursable - not the regular travel part of the job itself. Would love for someone who knows for sure to clarify. I certainly HOPE it's not the reality that expected work travel is not reimbursable, because that would be bonkers and possibly illegal?!

    1. I hope you're right. At best the posting is ambiguous. That disclaimer was a significant change from prior job postings for government ombuds jobs. Applicants should make sure to clarify.
