Job Posting: California State University, Monterey Bay
The public university in Central California has opened a search for its first Ombudsperson. The CSUMB Ombuds will serve faculty, staff, and students at the mid-size university. Generally, the position will practice to IOA standards. However, a Cal State University system policy requires Ombuds to report sexual misconduct and gender discrimination to the campus Title IX officer.

"Under the general supervision of the Associate Vice President for University Personnel...." Without a mechanism for censuring institutions that place "ombuds" under HR, counsel, DEI or other offices/officials at the top of the organization, such as AAUP does for violations of academic freedom, we will all be like the frog in the pan of water slowly being boiled, in ombuds' case into irrelevance.
ReplyDeleteThe benefits suck. I was going to apply but.... "The CSU is committed to offering benefit plans that provide employees options
ReplyDeletefrom which to choose their appropriate level of coverage and to help manage
their wellness as well as retirement needs, if applicable. Unless otherwise stated,
eligible employees may enroll in employer-paid and voluntary benefits.
