Lies Poesiat, who has been the Student Ombudsman at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam for the past 15 years, has announced her retirement. Poesiat will wind down her duties and work one day a week as Staff Ombuds until May 2024. Poesiat's career was capped by a book published in English and Dutch (Ombuds Work in Higher Education / Ombudswerk in het hoger onderwijs), which addressed all aspects of Ombuds work in higher education. In addition to her work as an Ombuds at VU and previously at the University of Amsterdam, Poesiat served on the steering committee of ENOHE for many years, co-founded and led the Dutch Association of Higher Education Ombudsmen (VOHO), and lectures nationally and internationally.
VU Amsterdam has named Pelin Zenginoglu as the new Student Ombudsman. She has worked for the university for nearly five years in several different positions. Most recently, Zenginoglu serves as the Student Diversity Officer. She graduated from VU Amsterdam and then earned Master's degrees from VU Amsterdam and the University of Amsterdam.
