Catholic University of America Announces Inaugural Ombuds
The private Catholic research university in Washington, D.C., has appointed Maureen Condic as its first Faculty Ombudsman and Mediator. According to an announcement from Catholic University, Condic "will be charged with providing faculty guidance on policies, rules, and laws pertaining to their positions as well as advising the University's administration on faculty trends. She will also handle, when necessary, mediations with faculty members, students and the University’s administration."
Condic comes to Catholic University from the University of Utah, where she is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology and Adjunct Associate Professor of Pediatrics. Condic has been the Faculty Ombuds at Utah since 2014. She graduated from the University of Chicago and earned her PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. (Catholic President Announcement.)
