Missouri State University Debuts Ombuds Program

Chris Herr and Mary Bohlen have been appointed as the first Ombuds Representatives for the public university in Springfield. As part-time (0.20 FTE), collateral duty Ombuds, they jointly serve all MSU employees following IOA standards. As Ombuds, Herr and Bohlen report as part of the president's office and are expected to serve an initial appointment of three years.

Both of the new Ombuds are long-time employees. Herr has been a professor for two decades and is currently the Head of the Department of Theatre and Dance. He graduated from Marquette University and earned an MA and PhD at the University of Toronto. For the past five years, Bohlen has been an Assessment and Accreditation Consultant in the Institutional Effectiveness Office. (MSU Ombuds; LinkedIn.)
