IOA Offers Ombuds Training in Phoenix

The International Ombudsman Association presents several training sessions for new and experienced Ombuds in Phoenix, Arizona on July 8 through 12, 2013. The programs include "Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice," "The Next Step for New or Growing Programs," and "Ethical Dilemmas Facing Organizational Ombuds."
  • Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice (formerly Organizational Ombudsman 101), July 8-10
    This 2½-day course that covers the fundamentals of the Organizational Ombuds role. It provides basic information and training for the Organizational Ombudsman by emphasizing the principles of confidentiality, neutrality, independence, and informality.
  • The Next Step for New or Growing Programs (formerly Organizational Ombudsman 101 PLUS), July 11
    Taught by Wendy E. Friede, CO-OP, this course will concentrate on how to communicate the value and benefits of an Ombudsman function internally to management who are considering starting an Ombudsman Office, and from the outside if you are an entrepreneur.  (Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice is a prerequisite.)
  • Specialized Course #1, July 11 - Abstract will be available shortly.
  • Ethical Dilemmas Facing Organizational Ombuds, July 20
    Taught by Sean Banks, this one-day specialized course will explore the importance of using the IOA Code of Ethics as a compass for navigating professional ethical dilemmas as they may arise in Organizational Ombudsman practice.  
    (Foundations of Organizational Ombudsman Practice is a prerequisite.)
