When the media Ombuds gather in Los Angeles next week, they are expected to appoint a new executive director. Jeffrey Dvorkin, who became ONO's first Executive Director in May 2009, has announced that he will step down and Kirk LaPointe has agreed to volunteer for the position.
LaPointe has had a long career in media as a reporter, editor, and Ombudsman and is currently the Executive in Residence and an Adjunct Professor at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of British Columbia. He also is a Special Advisor to the Office of the Ombudsman for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation. (ONO; LinkedIn.)
