Responding to Threats in Negotiation
The latest podcast from the Harvard Project on Negotiation offers three steps to deal with threats and ultimatums during negotiation:- Consider whether ignoring the threat is the best option;
- Probe the motivation and intent behind the threat; and
- Decide whether there is an obligation to make amends.
