The President of California State University San Marcos, Karen Haynes, has posted a YouTube video introducing the new Office of the University Ombudsman. Derrick Crawford, Associate Vice President for Diversity and Educational Equity, also serves as University Ombuds, primarily for administrators and faculty. In addition, CSUSM recently appointed Michelle Hunt as Assistant Ombuds for Staff and Students.
Crawford and Hunt also have their own video on YouTube in which they introduce themselves and provide more information about the Ombuds role.
Prior to his appointment, Crawford was the Chief Diversity/EEO Officer at The Citadel in South Carolina. He also served as the National Football League’s Director of Human Resources and Senior Compliance Officer.
Hunt moved into her position after serving as an Academic Labor Relations Coordinator in the Office of Faculty Affairs. She graduated from Stanford University and earned her JD from the University of San Francisco School of Law. After earning her law degree, Hunt worked as a litigator for seven years in California and North Carolina. (YouTube: President's Ombuds Welcome, CSUSM Ombuds; CSUSM News.)
