Conway, the Ombudsperson at UVic, reports that her office handled 390 cases in 2011, a decline from the record high of 444 in the prior year. Conway said while the total cases decreased from recent years, the number of students seeking confidential advice remained high. In addition to statistical data, Conway also provided three case summaries to illustrate the types of matters that come to her office and how she provides assistance.
Conway's report also highlights her work in campus outreach, including a workshop series: “Critical and Respectful Discourse.” workshop series. Conway also recently concluded her two-year presidency of the Association of Canadian College and University Ombudspersons. (UVic Ombuds 2009 Annual Report.)
